My Lit Circle Novel

There were some very interesting choices when it came to selecting a book for our lit circle groups, there was anything from horror to drama to comedy. We chose to select the watchmen it's sort of a comic novel. The story behind "Watchmen" is it's post Vietnam war in New york City, everyone is still very eerie about the war, which means that there's lots of crime in the streets.  You might think the Watchmen are super hero's but they're just average guys dressed in costumes trying to keep the streets clean. They don't posses any sort of supernatural powers like your average superhero has. The story takes you on a confusing journey about the investigation of the death of one of the watchmen the comedian. From there you just get really into the story, and it provides to be a good read.

I really got into the whole semi superhero thing as soon as I started reading the book. At the very begging it shows one of the watchmen "the comedian" in his apartment when suddenly a mysterious figure appears and kills the comedian, leaving me the reader wanting to go on because of the amazing hook the authors used to get the readers attention. While reading the story I noticed that the authors intended to confuse the reader by adding twists to the plot, it was almost like things I wasn't expecting to happen throughout the comic seemed to always find a way to happen. The amount of attention you need to pay in order to somewhat understand the story is crazy, at first I was having slight difficulties understanding which characters where the bad ones, because frankly just about all of the watchmen have the same personality and shady identity's. However finally getting through it and learning the truth behind the comedians death was very satisfying after reading a great novel.

I personally have had enjoyed our lit circle discussions, and hearing the opinions  that my friends have to say about the book. It really showed me a new way to read any text and be able to better understand lit circles. I thought it was a fun way to get us to read books that we chose together and be able to ask questions to each other. The watchmen was a very good novel and I wouldn't think twice about reading it again.

The importance of school in a child's life

For my radon topic I'm choosing to write about the importance of school and how it affects you're life in the future. Its hard to believe that I started school almost 13 years ago now, I was only 5 years old when I went to my first kindergarten class. Now here I am 17 years old and hopefully graduating, but I still have a lot of work to do if I want that to happen.

School is mandatory for most children by their parents, even though we'd like it to be a choice. To me though I find school teaches me things I wouldn't otherwise ever hear of. School is the most important and meaningful part of my life, I guess I can sort of  call it a 2nd home, but that would be taking it a bit far, it's more of a place I know I can turn to for any sort of help for any sort of issue or obstacle in my way. I know that several times in the past when things weren't going so well I turned to school to help make me feel better, whether it be hanging out with friends in the halls having good times, or learning something new and interesting in the classroom. School has also provided me with countless memories and moments that I'll cherish for the rest of my life.

Overall I'd like to say that I wouldn't be the person I am today without the schooling that I've received over the past 13 years, in fact I wouldn't even be close. To me school was the thing in my life that made me want to be better, motivated me to become something big, so far it's not working out, but I plan on turning things around and doing what I want to do. School has been great to me and I'd give almost anything to be able to go back and do it all again.

What makes me

What Makes Me?

Lennon is a name that my parents gave me, because they were both huge admirers of the Beatles. Over the years I have grown attached to the band as well, and I share similar thoughts towards John Lennon's quest or hope for world peace.

What makes me me?- a vast variety of things, activities and emotions. Beginning with Hockey, the sport I love the most, and always will love the most. Hockey has been a huge part of my life going back as far as I can remember, I've played since the age of 5,and watched it on TV. I've even had a try at sort of coaching, but that didn't work out as well as actually playing the game. In reality I live and breathe the sport, and I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't play hockey anymore. However I don't plan on going anywhere career wise with the sport so it seems like it's almost time to drop that idea and move on.

As I said before music is a huge part of my life. It calms me down whenever I'm stressed, and plain and simple it's just easy to listen to no matter what mood I'm in. I want to say it keeps me focused, but sometimes it throws me off task. It really just depends on what kind of mood I'm in.

It's weird to say, but I feel like my school makes me who I am. I find that school really hints at what kind of person you are, and where you could be headed in life based on work ethic and effort in class. School has made me into what I hope to be a successful individual, and it has really prepared me for what's next to come in life. School has made me smart, bilingual, and confident in my own abilities.

In conclusion the overall biggest driving factor that makes me who I am,are my friends and family. My friends give reasons to aspire to be better, they provide me with competition, love and the best part drama. My family have made me who I am today, by providing me with everything and more to be successful in life. Id be nothing without my family and my friends.
